SAT & ACT INFORMATION − Most four-year colleges require a standardized test score to be submitted as a component of evaluation for acceptance into their institution.  It is important to research and identify the requirements of colleges for standardized tests, so you know what score will correlate to acceptance for general admission and admission into specific majors of study.  As a general rule of thumb, students pursuing a bachelor's degree (four-years/120 collegiate credits is the standard) should take the SAT or ACT in the junior year at least one time.  The information in the link explains costs, sign-up procedures, test dates, locations, etc.

HACC - Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is the college of choice for high school students in Central Pennsylvania seeking to complete college-level courses while still in high school.

HACC provides an inclusive, accessible, accredited and relevant college-level learning experience. High school students can earn college credits while completing their requirements for a high school diploma and matriculate to HACC or other colleges of their choice after graduating from high school.

Depending on which dual enrollment option you select, you can earn college credit at your high school, at a HACC campus or online. More information can be found by clicking on the image.

CAREER SHADOW PROGRAM − One of the best ways to narrow down your career options is to spend a day shadowing somebody working in your career field of interest.  In Grade 11, all students are required to perform one career shadow experience and complete the associated assignments.  The goal is to have students gain a valuable experience in a career field that matches both his/her interests (what you would like to do) and aptitudes (what you are good at and how that projects to skills in a career field).  Students are encouraged to shadow 2 or more professionals in prospective fields to gain the most possible exposure prior to graduation.  The guide below provides an overview of how to establish a career shadow and information questions to ask during the experience to gain optimal value.  Please note that the academic requirements may change from year to year based on integration into a classroom curriculum for grading.
